Ireland’s Board of Directors went on a self-funded trip to Malawi to learn more about Mary’s Meals life changing school feeding programmes in the country. Board Director, Arthur Coary, shares his personal reflections from the trip.

Scorched land, dusty plains and dry riverbeds stretch for as far as the eye can see in the northwestern region of Turkana, Kenya. Like many regions across East Africa, Turkana faces seismic challenges with hunger and poverty.

We spoke with Sister Medhin from our partner organisation in Ethiopia about the toll that years of deadly civil war has taken on the people of Tigray and the crippling hunger – now worse than ever – that children and communities are facing.

The current global hunger crisis is undeniable and in South Sudan – the world’s poorest country – conflict, climate shocks and poor economic conditions have left millions of people in need of food aid.
