Step by step to feed the next child

Supporters from all over Ireland joined together to walk over 200kms for Mary’s Meals!

A group of fantastic supporters completed the long and arduous journey to Knock, Co. Mayo. Groups of walkers set out from Dublin, Derry, Malin, Armagh, Coalisland, Lurgan, Kilkenny and Limerick to walk the long distance to the national Shrine of Our Lady in Knock.  Fundraising under the banner “Step by Step to feed the Next Child”, groups walked more than 200kms over 9 days.

The walk is now in its seventh year and, thanks to the generosity and kindness of all involved, proves to be one of our largest fundraisers. David Rose, Executive Director of Mary’s Meals Ireland, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who participated in the walk to Knock. From the walkers themselves to bucket collectors, from back-up drivers to people dropping off snacks and goodies to the walkers en route – all played a part in realising the Mary’s Meals vision: that every child receives a daily meal in their place of education.”

It costs just €15.60 to feed a child for a whole school year through Mary’s Meals, so every donation raised by the walk to Knock will make a huge difference to the lives of families suffering extreme poverty.

Think about joining the walk next year! The groups are always looking for help with back-up drivers and bucket collectors. Everyone is welcome to join in the walk, even for one hour or one day.

There are many different ways you can help – by donating your time, money, skills and prayers.
