Gerard Butler took to social media at the weekend after a self-imposed “summer break” with a heartfelt message of encouragement for his followers.

Acknowledging the “crazy times” we’re all living in, he reminded his fans how important it is that we all look out for each other and shared his passion for the work of Mary’s Meals, saying: “I feel honoured to be part of such an important cause.”

The posts shone a spotlight on our important work to provide daily meals to some of the world’s poorest children every school day. As Gerard pointed out, school closures caused by Covid-19 will not stop us from reaching the children we serve. We are continuing to work with communities to provide life-changing meals to more than 1.6 million hungry children, whether they are learning at home or returning to the classroom.

He went on to say: “I encourage you to do some digging, and if not Mary’s Meals, use this day [International Day of Charity] to find a cause that matters to you. Join me in finding a way to give back, whether it’s with your time, your words, or a small donation. I think it will bring you some peace. Sending love your way.”

The inspirational message went out to millions of fans across his Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts with some beautiful photos of Gerard Butler visiting communities in Liberia, where more than 150,000 children receive Mary’s Meals.
