Despite the challenges caused by Covid-19, we’re determined to make sure hungry children can still receive life-changing meals – and we have some wonderful news to share this Easter!

We are all currently living in a time of uncertainty and confusion. Our world seems to change on a daily basis, but each day we find new ways to adapt to that change. Around the globe, schools have been closed, including in the countries where we feed the many children who are part of the Mary's Meals family. Since our work is based on the simple idea to feed children one meal a day in their place of education, this particular change has had a significant impact, but we keenly feel our responsibility and commitment to keep our promise to the children we feed.

Our staff and volunteers in programme countries have been working tirelessly to explore ways we might reach the children who rely on us and keep our promise. We are delighted to say that we now have plans in place in several countries to reach hundreds of thousands of children and provide them with that daily meal.

At times like these it is difficult to be certain of anything, but we are continuing to work hard to keep our promise to the children and more plans are being put in place each day so this number of children we are reaching can continue to grow.

Our founder, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow said: “Our amazing teams in many of the countries where we deliver those meals, despite the school closures, have already found new ways to keep feeding those children at home.

Working with the government ministries, community leaders and our incredible local volunteers we have established safe ways to bring the food to the homes of children for it to be cooked there.

There are already plans in place to reach hundreds of thousands of those children in this way – and each day new solutions are being found and that number is rapidly growing!”

At this time of year, this message of hope and joy seems particularly wonderful and we are delighted to be able to share it with you now. There will be more to say in the coming weeks and we will, of course, keep you updated as plans develop. For now, thank you for all that you do to help to bring food – and hope – to children in some of the world’s poorest communities.
